Being Jane Austin In Ways

Posted by: Claire The Superstar on: June 20, 2008

So, I’ve been advertising my guild a lot lately, for three days now. And my friend neomailed me saying that she found this girl who would be awesome for the guild and was considering it, so I thought I might as well start advertising too, so I go on the boards and see this girl who looks perfect, her needs

Alright so, I’m looking for a small guild, somewhere between 10 and 20 people, who are literate, nice, and just enjoy chatting. No celebrity or television/movie themed guilds please. Thank you in advance ^^ ”

OMG! Thats our guild perfectly so I post my add and see that was the girl Tills was talking about, so I’m like. “ooooooooooooooooooooh! Cool, Maybe she’ll see how active we are that two people our taking there time to advertise the guild.” So I check back and see that her and some other people are having this convo about ow much the hate pre maid adds, so I thought I would give my ideas and thoughts on them (Note: This was a very stupid idea) so I post this…

“Sorry if I’m jumping in on your convo, but, I personally believe there is a time and a place for pre-maid adds. As long as they are not annoying they give info about the guild quickly with the rush of people posting there guilds, it gives you a peak at what there about and how they do things before you even look at the guild.

If the person is posting an add that has nothing what so ever to do with the guildless person is wanting, they there just… someone who apparently doesn’t care, and think that just posting there add is going to get them members. Not very true at all. Even though personal things are better and seem more like they care, they are hard for some people. If you would prefer not to have a bunch of pre-maid adds thrown at you the ask. Now not everyone is going to write things down but then you can just ignore them, if that is what you would like. Find a guild is hard work and some times it’s just easier to look at someone’s, go to the guild, and if you like it talk to the person personally. Thats just my thoughts. =)”

To me this seams like I’m just putting my thoughts on it and making a point there not THAT bad, and she replies with this “In concern to Clairebear:

Yes, but if you are posting a premade ad to your guild more me,
then the least you could do is make a small note at the bottom explaining how your guild relates to my specification,
(Eg. “It’s small and we like to talk!”)”

She said no where what so ever to post something around it or write something your self more about the guild, so you assume you post your ad then check back later to see if they have any questions, maybe it was obvious when the person looks very good that you should do that and I’m just really stupid. Was I wrong to post my thoughts? She was arguing agents me basically. Or maybe it was to prevent from future fights.. I don’t know. I wish I would have saw Tillie’s post. Why do I always have to speak my mind?

Heys, I don’t think it is a problem to voice yourself out, as long as no one is offended. In this case, you weren’t offending the guildless peep, so that’s fine. But I suggest you don’t get her to join the guild, cause if she is already having a problem with your premade guild ad before she even joins your guild, then it might be more of a problem once she actually joins.
